HSCA Members
Beyond receiving our honor cords, HSCA membership is a mark of distinction. Affiliation with HSCA brings credibility and recognition to students, setting them apart in their academic and creative pursuits; it is a respected symbol of excellence, achievement, and dedication within both film and education.

Inducted Member Benefits
Members, inducted students in a Chapter, gain access to the following benefits.
A rigorous certification,
valued by colleges and film schools worldwide due to our robust requirements for induction and regular auditing of Members.
Comprehensive educational resources,
including professionally produced courses, a bimonthly newsletter, access to industry-standard trade magazines, and exclusive interviews with film professionals.
Access to a multitude of HSCA events,
such as our annual film festival, periodic competitions, Q&As with industry professionals, and much more.
Opportunities for scholarships and fellowships,
supporting passionate future filmmakers beyond their high school classrooms.
A toolkit for film school admissions,
with advice from college counselors, film school admissions officers, and almuni.
A community of like-minded students
that serves as an incubator for personal development, civic engagement, leadership skills, and technical-filmmaking skills.

Maintaining Induction
Being inducted into HSCA carries both honor and obligation; while it comes with a multitude of rewards, there are also a multitude of responsibilities our Members must fulfill to maintain their induction status. These requirements, which quantify community engagement and participation, can be found in our Chapter & Membership Handbook.

Induction Requirements
Uninducted students, referred to as Associates, apply with their Chapter to become inducted, allowing each Chapter Director to tailor the induction process to the context of their school. Members should be active in their Chapter and community, regularly produce collaborative film work of reasonably good effort that is screened for others, and remain in good standing with their Chapter and associated academic institution.
Opportunities for Growth
All HSCA Members grow – both as people and as filmmakers – through active participation in Chapter activities and the filmmaking process. Members may earn additional ranks, as listed in the Chapter & Membership Handbook, based on their work, making them eligible for additional scholarships and opportunities.
Most Chapters also typically have an Officer Team, consisting of a President, a Vice President, and up to three Officers, which assist the Chapter Director in governing the Chapter, facilitating activities, and maintaining Chapter records.
